On May 28, 2024, the members of the Commission on Higher Education Composite Team (CCT) of the validation activity for the conversion of Occidental Mindoro State College into a University presses forward despite the challenges posed by Typhoon Aghon. Led by the CHED Office of Institutional Quality Assurance and Governance (CHED OIQAG) in partnership with CHED MIMAROPA, the CCT persisted in their mission.

The CCT was received at a dinner gathering by SUC President III, Dr. Elbert C. Edaniol with his officials and faculty at the Main Campus Gym. Comprising the Secretariat, Institutional Evaluators, and Program Evaluators, the CCT validates compliance of Higher Education Institutions (HEI) based on Performance Standards Guidelines (PSGs) and other relevant issuances through documentary analysis, interviews, and ocular inspections.

During the program to welcome the CCT, Dr. Edaniol expressed his appreciation and conveyed a positive outlook on the endeavor. Meanwhile, Engr. Edgar C. Cepe, CHED MIMAROPA Chief Education Program Specialist, representing CHED RD Dr. Jimmy G. Catanes, thanked the members of the CCT for their dedication despite the disruption caused by the typhoon. This demonstrated the great commitment and dedication of the CCT to completing the task.

CHED OIQAG’s Dr. Mildred M. Libot, Chief Education Program Specialist, provided a brief background and purpose, introduced the CCT members, and outlined the flow of activities. This was followed by Ms. Rita P. Sescar, Supervising Education Programs Specialist, who discussed the university requirements.
