Commission on Higher Education MIMAROPA Holds Townhall Meeting for HEIs, Unveils IDIG Initiatives, and Marks the Groundbreaking of Marinduque State University’s Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.

On September 6, 2024, CHED MIMAROPA held a Townhall Meeting with Presidents, Heads, and key officials from various HEIs, providing a platform for discussions with CHED Chairman J. Prospero E. De Vera III. The meeting focused on key issues, strategic initiatives, and international collaboration to enhance academic experience.



















Chairman De Vera emphasized the privilege of advancing higher education, stating, “It’s really a privilege to start in the Commission na walang Free Higher Ed. It’s a privilege to be able to fight for the law, and the biggest privilege is to see the result afterwards.” The meeting was also the venue for CHED MIMAROPA to honor good performing HEIs in the areas of internationlization, board performance and compliance with CHED requirements.

The event also featured the unveiling of the CHED Institutional Development and Innovation Grants (IDIG), with Marinduque State University (MarSU) highlighting upgrades to its Electrical and Electronics Engineering faculty, the establishment of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and computer workstations, and ICT modernization for its SMART Campus Programs. The day concluded with the groundbreaking ceremony for MarSU’s new Multipurpose Sports Complex, under the Community Sports and Wellness Program of CHED, this is a significant development aimed at enhancing campus facilities, student and community engagement in sports.
