On May 2, 2025, CHED MIMAROPA Regional Director, Prof. Edna Imelda F. Legazpi, made her first official visit to Marinduque to engage with students, academic leaders, and partner institutions, further strengthening the Commissionโs collaboration with higher education institutions (HEIs) in the province.
Her day began at Marinduque State University – Main, where she delivered an inspiring message at the 18th NSTP-CWTS Graduation Ceremony. In her address, she emphasized the role of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) in cultivating civic responsibility, volunteerism, and youth involvement in nation-building.
Prof. Legazpi also visited the campuses of the Educational Systems Technological Institute, St. Maryโs College of Marinduque, and Marinduque State University- Sta. Cruz Campus, where she was warmly received by students and administrators. These engagements offered opportunities to witness each institutionโs efforts in improving academic services, student support, and community-based programs.
The visit culminated in a heartfelt welcome dinner organized by HEIs in Marinduque, led by Marinduque State University. A highlight of the evening was the traditional Putongโa cultural rite unique to Marinduque that symbolizes blessings, joy, and well wishes for guests. This gesture of hospitality reflected the deep cultural pride and warm spirit of the Marinduqueรฑo community.
RD Legazpiโs visit highlighted CHED MIMAROPAโs dedication to nurturing strong regional partnerships, celebrating local heritage, and promoting the continuous advancement of quality higher education in the MIMAROPA region.
