November 12-13, 2025 – despite the series of cancelled trips and suspensions due to super typhoon Tino and Uwan, CHED-MIMAROPA successfully delivered Students Financial Assistance Programs (StuFAPs) activities in Romblon. Over 189 students were oriented in the province of Romblon on the different Merit StuFAPs offered by the Commission including the CHED Merit Scholarship Programs (CMSP), Scholarship Programs for Coconut Farmers and their Families (CoScho), and Agricultural Competitiveness Enhancement Fund- Grants-in-Aid for Higher Education (ACEF-GIAHEP).

Facilitated and supported by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Romblon such as Romblon State University, and Erhard Systems Technological Institute in Odiongan, Romblon, StuFAPs Unit also awarded sixteen (16) new grantees of CMSP and Co-Scho, and P250,000 worth of financial assistance for beneficiaries under Student Monetary Assistance for Recovery and Transition (SMART).

The Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA)-Romblon, also sent Ms. Rowena Taytay for discussion on CoScho and to respond to inquiries of the grantees. The forum has become a successful avenue for the inquiries and concerns of scholars. The HEIs were also monitored in their implementation of various StuFAPs.

Within the year, the StuFAPs Unit had already extended its activities and campaign for better access to higher education through various merit financial assistance programs of the Commission in the entire MIMAROPA Region.
