On the conduct of Marinduque State University’s (MarSU) Futurescape: Formulation of Strategic Development Plan on July 29, 2024 at Royalle Parc Hotel Tagaytay City, CHED-MIMAROPA was given an opportunity to provide orientation on Internationalization (Izn) and Global Citizenship Education (GCED) with the MarSU officials and staffs. The orientation aims to include essential points in their planning to produce future-ready graduates, to improve graduate outcomes and qualifications, and to increase HEI branding credibility, national, and international reputation.
Ms. Merigen S. Cafino, the Supervising Education Program Specialist of CHED-MIMAROPA delivered the orientation. Objectives to go internationalization (Izn), benefits of Izn and how to start Izn activities, specifically International Rankings, were the emphasis of the orientation.
Mr. Kenmark Hernandez, Izn PTS III of CHED-MIMAROPA discussed the guidelines in accomplishing the Izn and GCED Survey Template (Self-assessment Form for MIMAROPA HEIs).
As a newly-converted University, the MarSU was urged to continuously work on internal quality system, quality higher education, and to be stronger in research and innovation. They were also advised to organize their data and information on their existing projects and programs that can be utilized for internationalization. The important dates relative to the Times Higher Education Ranking and WURI applications were presented as well for the MarSU to begin the preparation for the said ranking applications.
CHED-MIMAROPA commends the efforts of MarSU for actively including Izn in their plans and future actions. A workshop on preparation for International Ranking would be the next step for MarSU.
