The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office (CHEDRO)- MIMAROPA was recognized as one of the Top Performing Regional Offices in the recently concluded 2024 Philippine Anti-illegal Drugs Strategy (PADS) Innovative Awards for Higher Education held on May 17, 2024 at the CHED Auditorium, UP Diliman, Quezon City.
The recognition was given to CHEDRO MIMAROPA for its active participation in the implementation of the Drug Education and Prevention plans, programs and projects in compliance with Executive Order No. 6, series of 2018 entitled, “Institutionalizing the Philippine Anti- Illegal Drugs Strategy, for drug-free educational institution and drug-free Philippines.”
A Plaque of Commendation was awarded by CHED Chairperson J. Prospero “Popoy” E. De Vera III, CHED Executive Director Atty. Cinderella Filipina Benitez-Jaro, Dangerous Drugs Board Secretary Catalino S. Cuy, and CHED Office of Student Development and Services Director Dr. Edna Imelda F. Legazpi.
The award was received by Dr. Jimmy G. Catanes accompanied by the CHEDRO MIMAROPA’s PADS Committee headed by Mr. Ronaldo U. Pedrosa, Focal Person; Ms. Lovelyn Lasac -Chen, Alternate Focal Person; and it’s members Mr. John Michael Vergara and Ms. Darlyn De Castro.
The event, spearheaded by the Office of Students Development and Services of the Commission, also aimed to recognize the efforts of higher education institutions in achieving quality and excellence in their drug education and prevention initiatives and programs. Western Philippines University – a SUCs in MIMAROPA Region, also received the PADS Innovative Awards.
