It’s a wrap! The Occidental Mindoro State College (OMSC) visit with CHED Chairperson J. Prospero E. De Vera III and CHED MIMAROPA headed by Regional Director Atty. Joselito Alisuag ended with a bang!
OMSC, headed by President Dr. Elbert Edaniol, warmly welcomed the delegates as they commenced the activity with Meet and Greet with faculties and students, followed by the “Talk to Popoy” where TES beneficiaries shared their inspiring TEStimonials and had the chance to interact with the Chair through an open forum. Following this, was a Press Conference with local media of the province. Subsequently, the Presidents and Representatives of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Occidental Mindoro was invited for the dialogue meeting with the CHED Chairperson De Vera.
The celebration was concluded with a cultural night with CHED Chairperson De Vera III; CHED MIMAROPA Director, Atty. Alisuag; and Chief Education Program Specialist Engr. Cepe; and their respective teams. The gathering exhibited the rich and historic Mangyan culture – from accessories, dances, and practices.
The activity highlighted the ‘Sandugo’, a ceremony of Mangyan adoption of the delegates, where OMSC officials adorned the visitors sambaw (headdress), and siwayang (sash), locally made by the Mangyans themselves. This act symbolizes the visitor’s acceptance and adoption of the Mangyan culture.
