With unwavering passion and purpose, CHED Chairman J. Prospero “Popoy” De Vera III, alongside Governor Jose R. Riano, led PADYAK: SIKAR (Scenic Island Kilometers, Adventure in Romblon)—a powerful testament to how higher education drives progress and transforms communities. This meaningful event was organized by Romblon State University, under the leadership of President, Dr. Merian P. Catajay-Mani.
Cycling with participants from various municipalities, Chairman De Vera completed a 24-km journey from Romblon State University-Main Campus to San Andres, Romblon, embodying CHED’s steadfast commitment to accessible, inclusive, and quality education. His leadership extended beyond the ride as he officially opened the triathlon’s swimming leg before returning to RSU for the event’s inspiring conclusion.
More than just a test of endurance, this padyak symbolizes resilience, dedication, and the relentless pursuit of academic excellence. As this event marks the culmination of a series of impactful engagements in Romblon, it leaves behind a resounding message: education, like cycling, requires vision, perseverance, and the drive to reach greater heights.
