RGADC MIMAROPA approves key GAD initiatives in Q1 meeting

The Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) of the Regional Development Council MIMAROPA convened for its First Quarter Meeting for Calendar Year 2026 on 18th of February at La Breza Hotel, Quezon City, presided over by the RGADC Chairperson, Regional Director of Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Dir. Edna Imelda Fernandez- Legazpi.

A key highlight of the meeting was the approval of the RGADC MIMAROPA–PCW Work Plan for CY 2026, which outlines priority programs and strategies aligned with national gender and development (GAD) goals. The work plan seeks to strengthen gender mainstreaming across member agencies and promote coordinated implementation of gender-responsive initiatives in the region.

The Committee also approved and endorsed to the Council the creation of the RGADC MIMAROPA Technical Working Group (TWG). The TWG is expected to provide technical guidance, enhance coordination mechanisms, and ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of GAD-related programs and activities.

The session concluded with the presentation of the RGADC MIMAROPA Accomplishment Report and Summary of Attendance for CY 2025, the guidelines of the Philippine Commission on Women for the 2026 National Women’s Month Celebration, the Best Practices in Gender and Development presented by Romblon State University, and the confirmation of the RGADC MIMAROPA Private Sector Representative (PSR). These highlighted the Committee’s accomplishments and the active participation of its member agencies.

The First Quarter Meeting ended with a renewed commitment from members to advance gender-responsive governance and foster inclusive and equitable development across the MIMAROPA region.
