On May 3, 2024, Romblon State University President Dr. Merian Catajay-Mani took part in a significant event alongside 14 other State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) Presidents and Officials. They gathered for the official Memorandum of Agreement Signing Ceremony hosted by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in partnership with the University of the Philippines – Los Baรฑos (UPLB) for the launch of the “ExcelLEArate” Licensure Examination for Agriculture Review Program.
ExcelLEArate is a pioneering review and strategy program to empower students for Licensure Examination for Agriculturists initiated and funded by the Commission on Higher Education leveraging on the expertise of UP Los Banos. It aims to empower students for the Licensure Examination for Agriculturists. Chairman J. Prospero E. de Vera III shared insights during his address, revealing that the ideation of this program occurred during his visit to Sulu State College for the inauguration of their transformative CHED-iLAB (Establishment of an Innovation Laboratory Facility for Global Education).
Chairman Popoy emphasized the three criteria used in selecting the 15 pioneer partners for this initiative: robust internet connectivity and computer facilities, geographic remoteness, and the need for improvement in licensure examination results.
The signing of the MOA among CHED, UPLB, and the 15 SUCs signifies a collaborative effort to enhance the performance of graduates in the upcoming October 2024 Licensure Examination for Agriculturists.
RSU despite its remote location boasts the necessary infrastructure to facilitate the LEA Review Program to its Agriculture graduates. Its current administration is identified with a strong commitment and actions of becoming a SMART Campus.
University of the Philippines President Atty. Angelo A. Jimenez expressed his commitment to this program along with the Chancellor Jose V. Camacho, JR. of UP Los Banos. He affirmed the relevance of the impact of this initiative and expressed his commitment to this program. He emphasized that the improvement of the performance in the Licensure Examination in Agriculture is integral to the nationโs survival- a crucial step toward addressing existential challenges on Food Security.
CHED MIMAROPA expressed its enthusiasm in witnessing and supporting RSUโ dedication to excellence in agricultural education and to its contribution to broader national development agenda, specifically in the realm of Food Security. This collective effort highlights the importance of collaboration and innovation in addressing critical challenges facing the agricultural sector and the nation as a whole.
