The Student Financial Assistance Programs (StuFAPs) Unit of the Commission on Higher Education, MIMAROPA Regional Office (CHED MIMAROPA) started its first roll of Orientation and Awarding of grantees in Occidental Mindoro and Oriental Mindoro on March 10-13, 2025.

The event has two parts and in three sets. The first part is the Orientation and Awarding of new grantees while the second part is the orientation of scholarship coordinators on liquidation process and facilitation of StuFAPs.

The two parts of the event were delivered in three sets. The first set, which is the Occidental Mindoro Cluster, was co-hosted by Occidental Mindoro State College on March 11, 2025. The said event was participated by 76 scholars and 11 scholarship coordinators from various higher education institutions in Occidental Mindoro.

On March 12, 2025, the second set, the Oriental Mindoro-South Cluster, composed of HEIs from municipalities of Pinamalayan, Gloria, Bansud, Bongabong, Roxas, Mansalay and Bulalacao, gathered in John Paul College Auditorium for the same parts of orientation. This event, co-hosted by John Paul College, was accomplished with the participation of 108 scholars and 11 scholarship coordinators.

A total of 154 scholars and 12 scholarship coordinators gathered in the covered court of Southwestern College of Maritime, Business and Technology Inc. (SCMBTI) to join CHED-MIMAROPA, with its Regional Director, Director Edna Imelda F. Legazpi, in the awarding and orientation of scholars.  SCMBTI, the co-hosting HEI, delighted the guests and participants from HEIs in the cities and municipalities of Calapan, Puerto Galera, San Teodoro, Baco, Naujan, Victoria, Socorro and Pola, or the Oriental MIndoro-North Cluster, with their warm welcome and showcase of scholars’ talent.

With the valuable gatherings of inquiries, comments, and suggestions, CHED-MIMAROPA and the HEIs in the region can altogether address the concerns in the implementation of CHED Merit Scholarship Program (CMSP), Agricultural Competitiveness Enhancement Fund-Grants-in-Aid for Higher Education program (ACEF-GIAHEP) and Scholarship Program for Coconut Farmers and their Families (CoScho).

The orientation would soon be slated by CHED-MIMAROPA StuFAPs Unit in the provinces of Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan.
