Commission on Higher Education MIMAROPA and Palawan State University, in a landmark move, officially solidified their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the Medical Scholarship and Return Service Program. The MSRS Program is established under Doctor Para sa Bayan Act, an Act Establishing a Medical Scholarship and Return Service Program for Deserving Students, or RA 11509. The program is made available to deserving Filipino students who want to pursue a degree in Doctor of Medicine.

The ceremonial signing was held this morning at the University Hotel of Palawan State University (PSU), Puerto Princesa, Palawan, where Atty. Joselito C. Alisuag, Regional Director represented the Commission and University President Ramon M. Docto represented PSU. The signing was witnessed by the Vice Presidents of PSU, School of Medicine (SOM) Officials and Faculty and the first batch of scholars of PSU School of Medicine.

Under the terms of the MOA, CHED will provide the student financial assistance to cover for tuition and other school fees, allowance for prescribed books, supplies and equipment, clothing or uniform allowance, allowance for dormitory or boarding house accommodation, transportation allowance, medical board review fees, licensure fees, annual medical insurance and other education-related miscellaneous subsistence or living allowances.
